Wildhawk Golf Club

We began the Fall 2022 portion of our schedule (4 events through the first week of November) with an early morning start at Wildhawk in South Sacramento. September 2022 has been a schizophrenic month weather-wise – the month beginning with over a week of 100+ degree temperatures, then settling into an extended period with temperatures below average, with the first rains seen in 4-5 months. On this day, a clear and comfortable morning gave way to warming (low 90’s) that had our groups feeling the pace over the last few holes!
Wildhawk has become a regular on the CGC schedule – an open, links-style course with only a couple of water hazards late in the round. The staff at Wildhawk works well with us on schedule, provides walking option rates, and the course generally plays gently enough to be a nice break from some of the tougher tracks played throughout the year. It feels a bit overpriced for weekend play – but on this date, there were multiple tournament groups behind us and the course was quite busy into the early afternoon.
With 20 players originally scheduled, we went with 2 Flights so we could utilize different tee boxes for the Men – giving us the opportunity to ‘level’ the playing field for the 2nd Flight. The course played as expected, with the scoring reflecting many good scores. The water features on 16 and 18 took their toll – as both holes averaged scores of double bogey per player. Eight (8) of the 19 players shot a score less than net par 72, with one (1) other player shooting net par 72. Three (3) players shot scores of net 80 or higher.
The Flight winners on this day were as follows:
1st: Jack Dever, net 67 (by 1 stroke over Bruce Hoffman and Ken Worman)
2nd: Joe Jenkins, net 67 (won tie-breaker over Richard Cisneros)
