Haggin Oaks Golf Course
MacKenzie Course

The last event of the 2022 Carmichael Golf Club (CGC) season was played at Haggin Oaks (MacKenzie) on November 5, 2022. The day, weather wise, played out like a bookend to our 2022 season opening event at Teal Bend back in March 2022 – overcast with forecasted rain expected during the day, but again we worked our way around the course without any rain falling. Folks were bundled up and prepared, so a little breeze and cooler temperatures didn’t feel all that bad - without getting wet on top of it.
We made some accomodations for the forecast in our golf planning – instead of using some Combo sets of Tees for some of the Flights, we went to shorter sets of Tees to help keep the group moving. That, along with folks playing with a certain sense of urgency to beat the rain drops, had the overall pace of play quite good for a weekend round of golf (the middle group of our 7 groups played in 4 ½ hours). It's probably not a coincidence that with a gentler length of course and a good pace of play, the average over par score for the group was the lowest of any CGC event in 2022! The per player stroke average was 1 ½ strokes lower than the second easiest CGC event in 2022 – and 3 ½ strokes per player better than when we played Haggin Oaks back in June 2022. Only 2 holes (Par 5 11 and Par 3 14) had average scores for the day that would have finished in the top 3rd of difficulty for Par 3’s and Par 5’s played throughout the CGC season. Eight (8) of the 27 players shot net scores better than par 72, with another two (2) players shooting net even par. Seven (7) players shot scores of net 80 or higher.
The Flight winners on this day were as follows:
1st: Marcos Silva, net 68 (by 4 strokes over Shawn Campbell)
2nd: Errol Thomas, net 66 (by 2 strokes over Rhonda Johnson)
3rd: Rick Givans, net 70 (by 2 strokes over Bill Wade)
