Ancil Hoffman Golf Course

Following our first away trip since 2019 (to Graeagle in July), we started the ‘unofficial’ second half of our 2022 Carmichael Golf Club (CGC) season with a second 2022 CGC event at Ancil Hoffman.
Again, the early start times (first tee time at 8:04A) make all the difference in where we schedule our Summer events. We ended up with a gorgeous morning for golf – not a cloud in the sky, with slight breezes. By the back nine, it was definitely getting warmer – but our groups finished before the temperatures reached the upper 80s, low 90s high for the day.

Ancil played surprisingly difficult on this day – with the second highest scoring average for a CGC event so far in 2022 (behind only Castle Oaks in May – and more difficult than all of the Graeagle courses from our recent trip), and five (5) strokes per player higher than the CGC Ancil event played in April 2022. Only five (5) golfers on this day made the Graeagle trip – we figured this round was just like starting over in an ‘event’ mode for many – so we are hopeful to see the scores come back down a bit in future 2022 CGC events.

Only one (1) of the 24 players shot a score less than net par 72, with 3 other players
shooting net par. Twelve (12) players shot scores of net 80 or higher.

The Flight winners on this day were as follows:
1st: Larry Marietti, net 71 (by 1 stroke over Errol Thomas)
2nd: David Muth, net 72 (by 4 strokes over Mike Agrippino)
3rd: Barbara Edgar, net 72 (by 4 strokes over Judi Ferreira)
