Ancil Hoffman Golf Course

Ancil Hoffman GC will always be the central link to the Carmichael Golf Club (CGC) – the CGC started back in 1989, in the early days of NCGA Associate Clubs when the Head Pro at Ancil at that time wanted a viable traveling Club because so many of his Men’s Club members didn’t want to travel to play other golf courses in and around the Sacramento area.

Ancil has become another one of those CGC early season favorites for a couple of reasons: 1) they currently don’t aerate their greens in the Spring, and 2) it’s a quality golf course, and centrally located to our membership to make it easier if we have to deal with potential early Spring weather issues.

On this day, light breezes, temperatures in the mid 70’s, and later tee times (starting around 10:30A) brought out the first viewing of shorts on many of our golfers for the 2022 season. Even though Ancil has been ‘shortened’ through the years (the White Tees, currently around 6,000 yards, used to play 6,400 yards – the Green Tees, currently 5,500 yards, used to play almost 6,000 yards), it still is one of the areas toughest tracks. Mature trees throughout the course make many recovery shots punch outs to get back in play – or potentially big numbers if you get too greedy!!

On this day, 4 of the 23 players shot scores less than net par 72 (with 1 player at net par 72). Seven (7) players shot scores of net 80 or higher.

The Flight winners on this day were as follows:
1st: Bruce Hoffman, net 68 (by 5 strokes over Alan Rankin)
2nd: Diane Hoffman, net 72 (by 1 stroke over Rick Givans and David Muth)
3rd: Mike Agrippino, net 65 (by 2 strokes over Rhane Thomas)
